On 14 March 2025, NOVA School of Law will present the NOVA Platform for European Administrative and Regulatory Law (NOVA PEARL), the new knowledge centre dedicated to the study of regulatory administrative law in a European context.
Two key topics will be discussed at the event, which will bring together national and international experts: “Digital Regulation in the European Union and the Challenges of Enforcement” and “Challenges of the Europeanisation of Regulatory Administrative Law in Portugal.”
The choice of topics and speakers reflects NOVA PEARL’s mission to contribute to debates on regulatory administrative law at European as well as national level, to foster exchanges between academics and practitioners, and to combine the analysis general, cross-sectoral issues of administrative regulation with a research priority on the administrative enforcement of EU Digital Regulation.
The opening session will feature speeches by Professor Margarida Lima Rego, Director of NOVA School of Law, and Professor Filipe Brito Bastos, Director of NOVA PEARL, who will present the vision and mission of the new knowledge centre.
The first panel will feature experts from prestigious European universities who will share their perspectives on the evolution of regulation in an increasingly digitalised and interconnected context. This will be followed by a face-to-face discussion with Portuguese academics and regulators, focusing on the impact of European Union law on national regulation and the adaptation of Portuguese administrative systems to the requirements of the European framework.
The event will also feature a keynote speech by Professor Raquel Brízida Castro of the University of Lisbon and Vice-President of ANACOM and a closing speech by Estela Lopes (EUI).
