10 Oct PEARL Talk: The Meta Platforms and TikTok judgements – Commission powers under the Digital Services Act
On the 1st October, NOVA PEARL held its first PEARL Talk of the semester, addressing the topic of the European Commission’s powers under the Digital Services Act.
The webinar featured Merijin Chamon as speaker (Vrije Universiteit Brussel), Anna Vicinanza (Università di Bologna) and Raquel Osório de Barros (NOVA School of Law, 4th-year undergraduate student) as discussants, and Filipe Brito Bastos as moderator (NOVA School of Law).
The Talk provided a valuable space for discussing the various conditions the European Commission must meet to use delegated and implementing powers, a topic that is increasingly relevant given the growing deference shown by the EU legislature toward these powers, especially in the context of the DSA and the AIA.
PEARL thus begins this semester with the same research focus, remaining committed to holding events that meaningfully contribute to issues in EU Digital Regulation.
